While everyone is busy speculating about the rumours of the iPhone Nano or which carrier will carry the iPhone in Europe, back in home in Singapore there is one claim by an insider that the iPhone will be here by the end of this year, instead of 2008 as announced by Steve Jobs during MacWorld Expo 2007. Another claim verified the first claim, and added that Singtel is the forerunner for the race to be the iPhone’s carrier in Singapore and that a detailed proposal has already been submitted to Apple many months ago.
Singtel, being Singapore’s largest mobile carrier, is definitely likely to be the choice for the iPhone’s carrier in Singapore, and like AT&T, many of us just simply hate Singtel.
*Edited* Now apparently the focus has been shifted to Starhub, who have been said to be in talks with Apple already. Our take on this? God knows. Just bring us the damn phone already.
Am just wondering. How credible is your source?
It’s as credible as the next mac rumor out there – I have no idea. Let’s just say that I’m just reporting what I have heard.
If u want a iphone, i can get one that is unloick for u at 1000SGD…u pay for the frieght. e-mail me at rlft_st@yahoo.com.sg
I can get the iphone for u at 1000sgd, but u pay the freight charges…. exbiz_sg_sh@hotmail.com
Wao…. You guys are crazy. The average uncle on the streets will probably pay that kind of cash, but who did you think I am?
So which Singapore Telcos that you think the iPhone will be tied to? SingTel ? Starhub? M1?
Why is that so?
Can show us some credible source?
Thanks a lot.

Hard to believe that Singtel will get the iphone, Singapore market is so small, only 1.x million subscribers for each operators, Singtel, Starhub and M1.
Also itunes is not allowed, yes it is not allowed to have an itunes
account in Singapore.
Find it hard to believe Singtel will have any leverage.
Likely candidates is definitely Japan. with more than 75 m mobile subscribers.

My take is Starhub (Singapore) and Indosat (Indonesia) will get it.
the reason why you can’t get an itunes account in singapore is because itunes is NOT available in Asia. Apple has been really slow in setting up an iTunes store in asia so if the wait is anything like itunes, be prepared to wait years.
the word is Singtel won the bid for iPHONE, expect this any time soon around June 2008.
Yup they did
Singtel deserve to take it up! STARHUB IS JUS A LOUST SERVICE!SO IS M1 another LOUSY SERVICE!
clearly debbie is crazy
who cam help me to buy iphone in singapore if have any1 help me plz email me at ripu1217@yahoo.com.sg…. thanx a lot
I’m just hating the fact SingTel won the bid. That made me apprehensive of whether i should buy the damn phone because first of all, StarHub > SingTel and Singtel loves to establish cut throat prices, and now that they would be monopolising the iphone sales for quite a few months, they would do exactly what they are good at. To rip iphone lovers off their $.
I am PISSING mad at Singtel’s monopolistic behaviour. Some lame excuse about irregular payment patterns, and they require me to pay a deposit of $800 to sign up as a new mobile customer with Singtel for the first time in 10 years! And whats even more ridiculous, you can negotiate the $800 down to $500 and finally $300. Has Singtel became the new Pasa Malam??
I really regretted I signed up 2 broadband accounts with Singtel, having moved from Starhub.
End of the day, I decided to walk away, take back my deposit. If I buy direct from the states, its only SGD$288.
SINGTEL.. PUKE
