Fuck Singtel

Judging from the response on twitter after the news of the Singtel iPhone plans broke, we only have one thing to say.

FUCK U SINGTEL.

No wonder they don’t want to release the prices yet. They are afraid of a Rogers-like backlash here.

Actually, Rogers' pricing looks quite reasonable and inexpensive in comparison. Figure that you'll use about 3-5x the data per month on an iPhone that you do now on your existing 3G phone (apps, media, etc., all new and/or much more usable on iPhone)... then look at the pricing plans that SingTel have announced and.... you'll be paying a minimum of $200 a month. Either that's because you'll take the most expensive/least restrictive rate plan (for two years, totalling some $4,800++), or, on the cheapest plan, you'll exceed your allotment in the first week or so of the billing cycle, and then pay the over-usage rates. Not too many HDB aunties are going to be able to afford that.

So how? No how. Look for the licenses of StarHub and M1 to sell the iPhone (much later than 22 August, of course) because, since SingTel can't meet sales expectations (with customers staying away in droves), they'll "protect" the smaller companies from such "terrible, unforeseeable" losses. And it will get written up in the ST as a Wonderful Thing.

    Meh.
  • YES.. THEY SHOULDNT BE CASHING IN ON APPLE FANS.. INSTEAD, THEY SHOULD TRY TO CAPTURE THIS GROUP.. BY OFFERING REASONABLE PRICES FOR THE IPHONE.. LETS JUST HOPE M1 AND STARHUB WILL ENTER THE PICTURE SOON..

SORRY SINGTEL.. EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION =/= RIDICULOUS PRICE..

    TILL THEN.. FUCK SINGTEL.. X10!
