Singtel announces iPhone 3G for Singapore on August 22nd

Singtel sent the following email to all its customers who reserved the iPhone. One interesting fact is that Singtel claims that the iPhone runs on not only 3G, but 3.5G (HSDPA). If that is the case, our iPhone will run much faster than the US one. Wonder how true this is.

Edit: As our commenter points out, the iPhone 3G has always been HSDPA right from the start, somehow the comments over in the states about having only speeds around the 700kbps mark always gave me the impression that it was 3G rather than 3.5G.

lets just hope singtel knows how to respect their customers.. hopefully they will use the "$0" upfront installment plans used by optus..

till then.. lets just keep our fingers crossed..

HSDPA is confirmed actually. http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html (US Website) shows it as UMTS/HSDPA (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
