First Post of 2011 – MacRyu’s iMac Setup 2011

Almost five years ago, I posted my iMac setup (basically the stuff that’s on my work desk 90% of the time) on flickr. Since that time, components of that 2007 setup have changed, items have been removed and added, well, mostly added (thus a much messier table), and for the first post of 2011, I thought I’ll post some photos of my current work desk setup.

Here is the original September 2007 MacRyu iMac Setup.

MacRyu.com site stats

In a totally Mac-unrelated post, these are my stats for MacRyu.com. While the numbers are nowhere near anything I define as “high”, my Google Ads earnings of 3 USD for the whole of 2008 sounds really sad. I wonder if I did anything wrong, or if this is normal? Not looking to earn any decent money through the ads, but just wondering if this is normal. Anyone can help?

P.S. In case you are wondering, I only turned on the webalizer on 15th April 2008, thus the low count in April. I also accidentally turned OFF the webalizer on the 25th of August and turned it back on only on the 25th of October, which explains the missing September stats and the low count in October.

MacRyu.com is not dead

Yes yes yes… I haven’t been posting in a while. Have been busy with work and my Japan trip which just ended. Lost my camera bag there, but luckily received the news this morning that it has been found. So am working hard at retrieving the thing.

When I get everything settled, I will be back again. Until then, ciaoz.

I am now part of Tech65

Oh man. I didn’t realised that Tech65 has already announced this.

So yeah, I am now part of Tech65 as one of their new crew members among others such as DK and Nicole.

So what does this all mean?

At least for me personally, this will mean the following;

1. I will be more committed towards showing up for 65 bits recordings (early Saturday mornings recordings are still extremely stressful for me though… LOL)

2. I might be part of whatever new shows that Tech65 may have planned for the future

3. I will be showing up more in public events as part of Tech65

4. I will try to plug MacRyu.com whenever I can!! HAHA!

All the above, however, MacRyu is still independent of Tech65. Tech65 is and will be a very interesting side project for me personally.

Here’s to more good times online.

P.S. I look like fuck in the photo. Argh. Bad, bad lighting in GT.

National University of Singapore Matriculation Fair Laptop Sales for Mac

I will be selling Macs at the NUS Matriculation Fair from this friday, 25th July till 31st July, at the Multi-Purpose Sports Hall from 9 am till 5pm. Those of you entering NUS soon do look for me if you have any questions regarding Macs or if you want to purchase a MacBook/Air/Pro for your Uni life.

I’ll be easy to spot. I’ll be wearing white/blue hair color during that week.

Twitter me for details on the prices if you want to know.

The fair will end on the 31st1st, followed by another month of sales in Yusok Ishak House from the 4th, which I will be in charge of as well.

Edit: For those of you who came in here looking for information for the NUS Matriculation Fair 2009, read in these following posts, why I quit the sales after the first day;

Short Hiatus

I know I have not been posting for the past few weeks, so here is the announcement that MacRyu.com will be on a short hiatus until early May.

This is because I am working on something interesting.

You will know soon.

Long Hiatus and some updates

Sorry for the long hiatus. There really hasn’t been much news-worthy Mac news to report, and I am also currently working on a new project that I hope will be ready soon.

On the international front, more news about our favorite Jesus phone. Besides the obvious Singtel news flooding the international Mac news headlines a while back, the latest news have been about the 3G iPhone. Speculation have been rife about Hon Hai, Apple’s biggest manufacturing partner, getting the contract to build the 3G iPhone. The second coming of the Jesus phone is expected in the 2nd half of 2008.

Great news, which I believed helped the stock price quite a bit. ^_^

Local front, really nothing much to report, or anything that I know of. The only significant event happening in April will be the submission of bids for the NUS/NTU Mac tender, which, as usual, I would not be surprised if the same people won.

One general comment though, about the current tender (which will expire in June 2008), no one really wants to buy a MacBook White priced at 2.7K SGD bundled with expensive software that most students either do not use, or if they do, will just pirate the damn thing. These are poor students you are talking about, and face it, most students are not going to pay 300 SGD for Microsoft Office for Mac.

And do not forget to include the Air in the bid. Or seriously the Mac tender this year will just be a big April’s Fool joke.
