The new iPhone will be thinner and will be availablein 2 colors, black and red, as shown in the picture below. It will also have video chat via iChat.
And the surprising news will be, iChat will be launched for Windows as well. “Now available for iPhone-and Windows!”
TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) reports that OS X 10.6 will be announced and seeded at WWDC, and the Macrumor forums get flooded with stupid reactions saying that Jan 09 is way too fast to release 10.6.
Are these people morons or idiots? Or recent switchers?
10.6 for a Jan 09 release is just right. And the people who complained that Apple cannot make decent software in 14 months are dumb. Did we have a lot of problems when Tiger came out within 12 months after Panther did? Leopard was a different case scenario because much of the code base was modified and changed, and you can even consider Leopard to be a much different OS than previous OS X versions were. 10.6 will be a version that builds onto the foundation that was created with Leopard.
Now, I wonder which cat will 10.6 be named after?
The Macosphere is rife with almost-confirmed news of Apple launching their Back to School promotion tomorrow, promising a free 8GB iPod Touch to any University student who purchases a MacBook/MBP/MBA/iMac/Mac Pro.
While it is no question that this offer will definitely extend to Singapore, one wonders if the University Notebook tenders which involves separate promotions from the Back to School promo, will have similar offers.
Currently the expected reseller to be awarded the tender for the NUS/NTU Mac notebook tender is Sapura Global, who have been selling the MacBooks in the 2 local universities for the past 2 years. Last year’s promotion saw no free iPods with the college purchases.
Cult of Mac is reporting that the new iPhone will have;
-3G
-GPS
-2 x memory (16GB and 32GB)
-22 percent thinner
-Better battery life
and will only cost $200 USD (roughly 273SGD)!!!! OMG! OMFG!

David Alison has a nice post about his experience switching over to the Mac. Not to encourage any mass conversion here, but at least you have an additional resource to refer to when you are trying to convince your friends and family that Mac converts are not only made up of elites, geniuses, rock stars, famous movie directors and composers.
Thought of the day: If a Mac switcher starts hurling abuse or constantly complaining why can’t Mac OS X is lousy or stupid because it does not do things like how Windows does, then it’s time to flame the fellow.
Take this thread for a good example.
Just because we don’t clean a floor of dust by sweeping it over and over again with a half-broken broom, does not mean that our way of using a vacuum cleaner is lousier or stupid.
Shucks. I just got my .Mac and this had to happen to me.
Daring Fireball and the Macosphere are widely reporting that .Mac will have a major upgrade, as well as a change of name to possibly “Mobile Me”, come WWDC 2008.
I’m all happy for the change, so long they don’t suddenly announce that .Mac’s replacement service will now be free with each Mac purchase. I’ll seriously kill someone if that happens.
Adobe Photoshop’s Project Manager John Nack addresses the crazy amount of rumors going on the net about Photoshop CS4 getting GPU acceleration in his blog post here.
Basically he states that everything you heard about the story is bull. GPU acceleration has not been promised for any version of Photoshop, much less CS4. Hell they don’t even have a release date for CS4 yet.
Sounds like the Windows people are dying for an answer to the GPU-accelerated pixelmator and acorn, but sorry guys, you unprivileged lot are not going to get something as beautiful as pixelmator in a million years, and certainly not on that 20-year-old shitload of code known as Photoshop. GPU-accelerated image editors are for the elites, like, for example, Mac users.
It’s finally official: Singtel, as first reported by MacRyu many many months ago, will be carrying the 3G iPhone into Singapore, and various other countries through its subsidiaries. According to Italian sources, the 3G iPhone will be available in Italy in June, and thus we should expect Singtel to offer it in the few weeks after them as well, instead of the previously reported September timeline.
