MacRyu.com is not dead

Yes yes yes… I haven’t been posting in a while. Have been busy with work and my Japan trip which just ended. Lost my camera bag there, but luckily received the news this morning that it has been found. So am working hard at retrieving the thing.

When I get everything settled, I will be back again. Until then, ciaoz.

I am now part of Tech65

Oh man. I didn’t realised that Tech65 has already announced this.

So yeah, I am now part of Tech65 as one of their new crew members among others such as DK and Nicole.

So what does this all mean?

At least for me personally, this will mean the following;

1. I will be more committed towards showing up for 65 bits recordings (early Saturday mornings recordings are still extremely stressful for me though… LOL)

2. I might be part of whatever new shows that Tech65 may have planned for the future

3. I will be showing up more in public events as part of Tech65

4. I will try to plug MacRyu.com whenever I can!! HAHA!

All the above, however, MacRyu is still independent of Tech65. Tech65 is and will be a very interesting side project for me personally.

Here’s to more good times online.

P.S. I look like fuck in the photo. Argh. Bad, bad lighting in GT.

Oh, by the way, this is the real answer…….

I’ll try to find the fucking time to post some pics and stuff…. I guess.

5. “I’m a PC, and I pretend that I ‘wrote’ Linux so I can look good”

6. “I’m a PC, and the cheaper I am, the more people love me – they don’t love me as much when I am $2000, why does Mac get all the love? Sighz”

7. “I’m a PC, and I pretend that I had some part to do with the creation of OSX’s underlying kernel so I can say nasty things about Mac”

8. “I’m a PC, and I am an ‘artist’! – I try to steal whatever new features Mac offers, doesn’t work most of the time though…. Sighz. FUCKMAC”

9. “I’m a PC, and I am designed by people who work with nothing but 12-inch long rulers and black and grey color pencils”

Mac Mini to be discontinued?

http://www.macrumors.com/2008/10/21/mac-mini-to-be-discontinued/

……looks like my wish of having a Mac Mini Media Centre won’t come true after all. Oh well. Big deal.

They are the Answers. The Question here is, however, Which One?

Will it be this……

…….or this?

I really love this one… LOL

65 Bits Episode 92 and 93

Yeah I know I had been slow with the posting and stuff, but am really engrossed in trying to find a way to get one of the “bricks”, either the smaller one or the bigger one.

They are just so, so, sweet.

Anyway, these days I have been, thanks to the kind invitations from the dudes at Tech 65, been on their 65 bits podcasts relatively regularly. Have been on the past 2 weeks, on episodes 92 and 93, and before that, on episodes 87 and 85.

Do check out Singapore’s own Revision 3 at tech65.org.

The Easiest Ways to Disable Data on your iPhone 3G / 3GS

This is for those poor souls who got served a 200SGD bill from Singtel because they didn’t read my article on the dangers of getting an iPhone without a data plan or read it way too late.

To disable data on your iPhone if you don’t have a data plan, the easiest way is to install bossprefs via Cydia and turn off edge and 3G, if you have a jailbroken iPhone.

For those of you purists who rock original unmodified iPhone software, the best way is to mess up the APN settings.

Under Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data Network>Advanced, change the settings from this;

APN: e-ideas
Username:
Password:

to something like this;

APN: xxxxxx
Username:yyyyyyyy
Password: zzzzzzzzz

Remember, it is not enough if you just turn off the 3G in the settings. All it does when you turn off the 3G is to revert to Edge/GRPS in order to save battery power.

Edit: Ever since iPhone 3.0 came out, many iPhone users, particularly Starhub ones, have complaint that changing the APN settings no longer stop the 3G/GRPS data from working. The only way is to call up Starhub, and tell them that you want to cancel your GPRS service with immediate effect.
