Subject: iPhone Launch – Call for Volunteers

Dear Colleagues
SingTel Launching iPhone 4 !

The long awaited iPhone 4 is finally here! Have you missed out in participating at our last iPhone launch? Here is another opportunity for you to be involved. Come and join us as a volunteer and be the first few people to participate and witness the start of another revolution.

As a volunteer, you will assist the team and help manage the crowd at our launch venue (you will be notified at a later date).

Operating hours:

29 Jul 2359 hrs to 30 Jul 9.00pm & 31 Jul 11.00am to 9.00pm

We need at least 70 volunteers as we are expecting to have an influx of people during the launch. Besides temporary staff, it is estimated that we need more than 300 staff over the 4 days to help engage and brief our customers on price plans and features of the iPhone 4.

There are 4 shifts where you could be involved;

29th Jul: 6pm-6am
30th Jul: 5.30am – 2pm
30th Jul: 1.30pm-9.30pm
31st Jul: 10.30am – 9.30pm

We appreciate your reverts by 23 July 2010.

Thanking you in advance and I hope to see you at the launch!

Yuen Kuan Moon
EVP, Consumer Group

The arrangement for the volunteers will be as follows:

Shift 1 – 6pm – 6am :
Change of normal reporting time. To report for shift at 6pm. Rest in the day for duty at night.
(Entitled to one day off )

Shift 2 – 5.30am – 2pm :
Change of normal reporting time. To report for shift at 5.30am. Shift ends at 2pm. Day off to rest.
(Entitled to one day off )

Shift 3 – 1.30pm – 9.30pm :
Change of normal reporting time. To report for shift at 1.30pm. Shift ends at 9.30pm.
(Entitled to half day off).

Shift 4 – 10.30am-9.30pm :
To report for shift at 10.30am. Shift ends at 9.30pm. (Entitled to one day off)

Nothing new. Start queuing way before 6pm next thursday for your iPhone 4 is the message here.

P.S. For those who somehow don’t get the contents of this email, this was an internal email sent to Singtel staff who are not directly involved in the iPhone 4 launch to “volunteer” to help out at the launch. And I thought it’s obvious enough.

1. launch venue not confirmed as of Wed 21 Jul? this means ST is trying to source for a venue other than comcen? is this the reason for nothing planned on FRI and SAT nights (the most hip time of the week)?

2. “need more than 300 staff over the 4 days to help”…. i counted 3 days: 29th, 30th & 31st. what's on SUN 01 Aug??

There's been no official announcement from ST. We haven't even gotten pre-orders yet. What is going on?

Launch venue is confirmed. It's just not yet made known to everyone else.

Flop? LOL. I'm sure whoever tried and decided to pay $2k for the phone weeks ago obviously don't think the phone is a flop.

Gawd knows. And there were rumors that Starhub's preorders would start yesterday. Site went down for hours but nothing happened in the end.

Why is the “To:” addressed to SingTel? Sounds like everyone in the organization?
